Vol.7 ISSUE 4 October 2009- ISSN-0974-1550

Dear Readers,

Contents

Marine pollution has become one of the world’s major concerns. A great number of toxic compounds are being released into our marine environment continuously affecting marine biodiversity.

Similarly, climate change is transforming the Arctic environment faster than expected and accelerating the disappearance of sea ice. In this context, the report on Aquatic bacteria being possible markers for monitoring Arctic climate change is note worthy.

In this issue we bring articles on importance of marine algae, status of microbes in Bay of Bengal and reports on the use of a variety of microbes as biomarkers, for climate change and cleaning up of oil spill etc.,

Do write to us expressing your views on this and any other matter concerning Microorganisms and Environment Management.

We are happy to share our views with you and look forward to your suggestions and feedback (www.envismadrasuniv.org/send_feedback.php) on the articles published in this Newsletter.
